The Lover and Landscape
The Lover and Landscape by Harold Pinter
11th-13th December 8.00pm The Old Joint Stock Theatre, B2 5NY

‘In Landscape , Pinter is writing, beautifully and graphically, about physical nearness and emotional separation…One of Pinter’s best-written and most deeply felt plays.’
The Life and Work of Harold Pinter, Michael Billington
Sarah and Richard, the couple in The Lover, have reached a strange point in their relationship at the beginning of the play. Sarah has become accustomed to talking about her lover – who visits her in the afternoon – to Richard, who does not object to this arrangement.
The Lover revolves around three characters: the husband, the wife and the lover. However, there is much more to this play than meets the eye. The Lover explores the repercussions when dull domesticity and sexual fantasy collide.
